Arriving at Loch Tay

Heading in to Kenmore

We were not meant to check in to Taymouth Marina until 4pm so we had plenty of time to head up north.  Our son took Kenzie out for a walk before we had to take her to the kennel.  His dog was still overnight in hospital and that was a shame since it would have been fun to walk the two together.

Interesting times though.  We had to have a socially distanced check in time for Kenzie!  This was arranged by a phone call the night before. We also have a socially distanced time to collect her.  She absolutely loves going to this kennel and, once again, never looked back as Dave took her away.  So nice she loves it there, but hey, what about us?

There were 3 cars going to our destination. All leaving and arriving at different times.  Our daughter had arranged for us all to meet at Mains of Taymouth for lunch and a playground break between 1:30 and 2. Who ever got there first would grab a table. Or so we thought. Again, new Covid rules abound!  We could not just grab a table, but had to order before being seated. Alan and I were the first to arrive and it did not seem like anyone else was even close behind us.  So went on to the Marina, too early to check in, but could sit and wait at Fisherman's Inn, on the shore of Loch Tay.  Our son, his girlfriend, our grandson and Little J arrived shortly after and we enjoyed a bit of liquid refreshment while waiting for our daughter, partner and baby.  Corbyn could not resist jumping in the Loch and did not mind being cold. Kids!

None of us had had lunch so we tried to order from Fisherman's Inn, I had read they were not open at all Monday to Wednesday, but they must do pizzas, soup and salads every day, but not between 3 and 4. So we waited to order at 4.  The pizzas looked amazing and everyone got one, except me. I got fabulous soup, but can't remember with it is. When in doubt, I always get soup!

We had kept trying to check in, but our villa was never ready when we asked.  As we were eating, the receptionist brought our key to us!

Arriving at our villa and deciding on where everyone was going to sleep was easier than expected.  It was not what I had planned, but better than I had planned. We got the second bedroom, which was also the through way to the Jacuzzi.  Much better our room than Whitney's with a sleeping baby! Since Martin was not feeling well, he and Sarah got the upstairs living room.  (that was where I thought we would end up).  All was very well and we decided to walk into Kenmore and find a place to eat.....

The walk was super, but we hit that old Covid regulations socially distanced restaurant booking tables ahead and nothing available.  Lucky for us, I had packed the biggest bag of pasta I had ever seen and some spaghetti sauce.  Sarah stepped up to the challenge and put together a great dinner, with very little ingredients.

To celebrate and finish our first full day, we all ended up in the Jacuzzi watching eagles fly over head.

Not a bad start to this family holiday at all!
