Braving the cold water of Loch Tay

All of us together on the water, not an easy shot! Alan managed it though!

Since I had booked the Scottish Crannog visit as soon as the booking site was re-opened after Lockdown for our second day here, the only day we could go paddle boarding, etc was our first full day at Taymouth Marina.

In a fit of madness, I let our son book a paddle board for me, what the heck? Might as well try it!  However, I do not like being cold or spending any time in cold water so I began to dread my bravado almost immediately.  Taymouth usually only lets 4 paddle boards go out at a time, but he had convinced them to let us use that one extra for me.....great!

First of all though, Alan and I headed out to Kenmore to find breakfast supplies at the Kenmore Post Office and General Store, We got eggs, cheese, bacon and fabulous whole wheat rolls and I was the breakfast cook.  Then a phone call to apologise that the extra paddle board was not available, whew!  I had to convince all the kids that I was very happy with a kayak, I understand kayaks and it would be very unusual for me to fall out of one.  So I still got to enjoy going out on the loch and doing something really fun with all the kids.  (Apologies, they are all in their 30s, except for our grandson!)

After this, some went into the Jacuzzi to warm up, or have a nap or rest in other ways.  Then we all walked in to Kenmore with the hope of finding someplace to eat, early enough to possibly book a table thanks to the Covid rules.  No place had any free tables and we did not want to drive to Aberfeldy for dinner.  But the walk into Kenmore was lovely.

Alan and I drove to the Co-op in Aberfeldy (only 6 miles away) for dinner provisions.  We rustled up very basic burger dinner ingredients, with our son's girlfriend somehow making this into a beautifully presented and wonderful dinner.  Those brown rolls we bought at breakfast? Lucky we had extra!

This day does not sound like it was busy, but it was a another wonderful day and I am hoping we get to do this again one day.
