Getting there
this and I hope you have too! After travelling to Portugal, we knew we would be home for a while since our daughter was expecting her second baby in February. We were excited to meet our new grandaguther, but we were also looking forward to taking advantage of the 12 months maternity leave she would have, leaving us time to travel as much as we possibly could....then COVID 19 hit, and the rest is history.
We have done nothing regarding travel since Lockdown started March and even this weekend with the family had to be officially postponed and reschedule once the travel restrictions were lifted. Thankfully, the owners contacted us to make the change. I have worried over hte fluctuating numbers happening in various places, mainly in England, that might have impacted if our son could travel up from London. But it all worked out and this weekend really was able to happen!
They arrived on Saturday, bringing their tiny Boston Terrier puppy with them. To make things easier for Kenzie, our Boxer, we all met at our local park, including our daughter's family. It was a fun reunion for all. After the walk in the park, we ended up at the house. I love nothing more than having my entire family under one roof, and in this case, all within the same room. These occasions remind me how small our family is and how lucky I feel that they do come home and spend time together. After a quick lunch, our daughters family went away and Kenzie took her tiny little London relative to the beach to help teach him not to be afraid of hte water!
We decided on Greenan Beach scene it is a great dog walking place, the tide was out and our grandson was delighted to be able to come along and also play in the water.
At first, this looked like the perfect plan. Kenzie and Little J were running around, he would even follow her without thinking, through deep puddles. It all looked perfect - until it wasn't. J licked or bit one of the huge dead jellyfish that we quite often see lying along the beach. Started violently vominting and shivering and he looked absolutely awful. This did not stop. We had to leave, and they took him to an emergency vet, who referred him to another emergency vet in Kilmarnock. The poor tiny little dog was on an IV for dehydration, along with pain relief, and spent the tight there.
Lucky for all, he was fine. And we were all able to travel the next day up to Taymouth Marina for our long weekend, which was now Sunday to Wednesday due to the change of dates.
There were a few more medical suprosies those two day leading up to arrival at Taymouth but this was enough to describe. Needless to say, we were all delighted it worked out and looking forward to some nice days together.
