Third time lucky in Venice - Day 1

Returning to Burano was the main reason for me being so excited to return to Venice.  I just love all the colours and excitement of this tiny island, which is also famous for its lace.

Burano

However, I took so many photos of this gorgeous little place that it deserves its own post and that will be after I fill you in on what else we did in Venice on our first full day there.....

We just managed to get up and quickly arrive at San Marco Square for the last gasp of sunrise!  And it was the only good sunrise of our visit.  How lucky were we?

Of course, we were not the only ones out to take photos of this event!

After enjoying the sunrise, we went back to our hotel for breakfast and then headed out to Burano where we spent a fabulous day. We took the Vaperetto from San Marco which is the longer journey and took the number 12 back from Burano - landing on the other side of Venice.  We had a lovely walk back to "our" side of Venice.

Here are some photos from before and after the trip to Burano!

This darling pizzeria is just around the corner from the Hotel Citta del Milano!
We really liked this the last time we were here, but didn't have the chance to return this time, except to walk by.

Since we had a late lunch on Burano, we didn't feel like dinner and ended up at The Devil's Forest Pub near Rialto Bridge. This is sort of like an Irish pub and this made us want chips!  They were the perfect ending to a fabulous day!
