Since we are still not travelling, although in Scotland we are allowed to go almost anywhere right now we just have not done that yet, we spent a delightful weekend just enjoying what feels like it will be the last nice summer weather of 2020.
After enjoying our outing on Loch Tay, I decided we really needed to buy a kayak and found a very affordable one! Since we do live close to beach and rivers, I wondered why we didn't do this years ago, but it is never too late to start.
This kayak is inflatable and the reviews all read well, so we made a day of taking it to the River Doon and testing it in nice calm waters. It was a family affair with our daughter and her family along to try it out too.
The worst part about an inflatable is the time it takes to inflate! We had a pump that plugs into the car and does its thing. But I feel it was not strong enough and the kayak truly did not inflate sufficiently. Good enough to play in this shallow river but not for very long. This needs to be further investigated.
The first to take it out were our daughter and grandson, then me and then either my grandson with me, or him on his own. I wish we could have spent more time doing this, and will factor more time in the next time -when we have mastered better inflation techniques.

The next day, our same family group went to Luss to spend a day on Loch Lomond! Luss has always been one of my favourite pit stops on the way to the Highlands and also back home, we have even spent the night in a lovely hotel there. But we have never spent a day at Luss until today. It was a super day too.
First we met for lunch at the Village Rest, then a Loch Lomond cruise! Then a walk along the village, with the option of renting a kayak or anything, but we didn't feel like doing this. It was nice just to relax and enjoy being there.

On Sunday, Alan and I simply walked to the shore and back again. This took a few hours and was great fun. I have not been able to walk very far for months and missed all the walking experiences so many people enjoyed during Lockdown, so this was a super way to spend the last day of the weekend.

This was a fabulous weekend to note the end of summer. Now, where are the pumpkins?
